The key steps for creating effective partnering behaviours

The following steps are key in creating effective partnering behaviours:

1. Clearly setting out the strategic values of an effective partnership and communicating to all the teams involved
2. Making sure that directors and senior managers exemplify the required values and behaviours
3. Encouraging individuals to evaluate and discuss the LEP's performance
4. Ensuring individual objectives include assessment of contribution to the effectiveness of the LEP
5. Formally marking the transition from the procurement phase to operational so people recognise a change of mindset and behaviour is required
6. Ensuring development of a LEP culture rather than enforcing one organisation's culture onto another
7. Making the practicalities of setting up the partnership, such as co-location and brand development, a priority
8. Using external expertise to facilitate partnership working
