Architecture Week 2006 - Being involved in School Design

16 June 2006

Architecture Week16-25 June 2006

Q. How do you design a good school building and inspiring learning environment and know that you are getting it right?

A. Get the people who’ll be commissioning it, paying for it, designing it, building it, managing it and using it together and ask them.

Being involved in School Design was a series of Architecture Week 2006 events by the Architecture Centre Network that focussed on promoting local stakeholder engagement and participation in school design. The events presented an opportunity for stakeholders to undertake action research linking to the Building Schools for the Future agenda.

Inspirational tours of schools, buildings and public spaces funded by DfES and supported by Partnerships for Schools took place across the UK’s network of architecture and built environment centres (ABECs). Interactive workshops and seminar sessions funded by Arts Council England and supported by CABE and School Works were also held.
