Wave 1: First schools to open September 2009
(not including quick wins)
Sunderland's Wave 1 project has already received 'quick win' BSF funding. In June 2007, Oxclose Community School in Washington became the first of Sunderland's schools to benefit from BSF investment.
The Council used the PfS National Framework to procure a preferred bidder, which was announced in October 2007: Balfour Beatty Construction will rebuild or refurbish six schools, including three Academies, as part of the city’s BSF programme. The Academies Progress page on this website has updates on Academies in Sunderland being delivered through the Framework.
Sunderland has also appointed RM as their ICT provider, who will provide ICT services across the whole of the BSF estate.
