I am a pupil...
As part of Building Schools for the Future (BSF), you may be offered the chance to help design the school you'd like. If you do, you'll probably learn about the design ideas that architects have come up with for new schools. These are called the 'exemplar designs'.
As part of this, you might get the chance to meet and talk to the architects that will work on redesigning all or part of your school. You may be able to suggest ideas for your school, and to discuss specific spaces and facilities that you would like to have. So when the school is built it will be one that you, and the other pupils, are proud of - a school that you enjoy going to every day.
This type of involvement in the design of your school is done through workshops called 'Joinedupdesign for BSF', which are run by an organisation called the Sorrell Foundation. The idea behind these workshops is that the design of a new school can be much improved by working with and listening to students, putting you in the driving seat and giving you responsibility for projects, ranging from redesigning the school uniform or website to creating new spaces in schools, such as a playground, sixth form centre or dining area.
