20th deal signed in BSF programme
16 June 2008
Partnerships for Schools is today marking another milestone as it reaches the 20th Financial Close in the national programme to rebuild and renew England’s secondary schools estate.
Nottingham City Council is the latest local authority to sign a contract with its private sector partner to deliver its Building Schools for the Future project.
Tim Byles, Chief Executive of PfS, said: “Today’s milestone of 20 Local Authorities having signed deals that will transform their secondary schools is excellent news – both for the students, teachers and wider local communities that will benefit from this unprecedented investment and for the delivery of the national programme as a whole.
“The pace of delivery for BSF has accelerated considerably over the recent period, and with 35 more schools this year, the programme is gathering pace. We have also recently embarked on the third in a suite of reviews to maximise efficiencies in the BSF process – a review of Operational LEPs.
“Nottingham City Council is the 12th Local Education Partnership to be created, with a further eight anticipated within the financial year, and so it is the right time to take close look at the DNA of these partnerships and to identify best practice which can be shared with new projects coming on stream.”
