Press statement: Richard Bowker to join National Express Group

24 May 2006

Partnerships for Schools (PfS) today announced that Richard Bowker, Chief Executive, will be stepping down with effect from the end of July. From early September, Richard is taking up a new post as Chief Executive Officer of National Express Group Plc.

Richard Bowker said:

“I would like to thank all the staff at Partnerships for Schools for their tremendous support over the last eight months and for their superb skill and professionalism. The BSF programme has now gained an unstoppable momentum and 2006 will be a year of substantial delivery. Construction will begin on the first ‘Schools for the Future’ and although I won’t be at PfS to witness the opening of the first schools, I shall continue to take a keen interest as this transformational programme unfolds.”

Mike Grabiner, Chairman of Partnerships for Schools, said:

“I would like to thank Richard for his very significant contribution to PfS in gearing the organisation up to ensure the successful future delivery of the Building Schools for the Future programme. I wish him well in his future career.”
