This note considers the role of national bodies in the BSF programme at all stages from inception through to operation of the LEP.

The extent to which the national bodies identified int his note are enaged and influence particular stages of the BSF programme can vary, with some being enagaged throughout the life of the programme and others only at a particular point.

This note dicusses the key points to understand for successful engagement with national bodies.

The key points to remember for successful engagement with national bodies

It is important to understand the following when engaging with national bodies:

  1. Who the various organisation are and how they support the set up and operation of a LEP
  2. When and why the organistations are involved
  3. The distinctions and close affiliations between the organisations
  4. The varying levels of support provided by the organisations
  5. The role of the Department for Education (DfE) and Office of the School Commissioner (OSC) in defining education strategy and the approval process
  6. the role of 4Ps in advisign local authorities on project management, skills audits, reviews and training
